Mark became a member of the Nebraska Association of Meat Processors (NAMP) in 1988, the year Gentert Pack was opened. It wasn't until 1994 that he won his first award on a Bone-in-Ham. But it was still only ONE award. The next award Mark and Belinda won was in 1997, again only one award. The next year they purchased a new smokehouse and brought home 8 awards from the NAMP show. In 1999 Mark and Belinda received their first Best of Show on Frankfurters and Hot Dogs. This award is given to the "best of the best." All the Grand Champion products are grouped together and judged to find the best product in the competition. To date, Mark and Belinda have won 4 Best of Shows received on 4 different sausage products. At Gentert Pack there's a display of all the awards Mark and Belinda have won, which tally up to over 90!

Although the earlier years of enterting in the NAMP Cured Meats Competition were disappointing, Mark and Belinda never stopped learning how to adapt and make products better. They continue to learn at every convention they attend. Mark and Belinda are proud members of NAMP and also the American Association of Meat Processors (AAMP) which offers competition on the national level. The Gentert's have 6 national awards on various products.
